RFID Investment Summit at the RFID World Conference 2007 - hosted by RFID Tribe.

RFID Investment Summit Chairman - Mark Johnson, RFID Tribe President

RFID Investment Summit
March 26, 2007
Dallas, Texas

Summary
Entrepreneurs and innovative firms are competing for investor attention and customer mindshare
must be able to tell a unique story around value proposition and intellectual property. Where is the
opportunity to fill technical gaps while avoiding running into IP walls? These questions are not only on
the minds of executives at start-up companies, they are on the minds of investors and corporate
directors of business development. In this pre-conference session we will explore these questions
and more:
  • Where existing start-ups have been successful. We'll take a look back over the past 18 months
to see who has received funding and why.
  • Where start-ups have run into crowded markets. We'll cover the IP environment with legal
experts familiar with RFID prior art and existing patents.
  • What is the right mix between services and technology? Given that the majority of start-ups will
carry the burden of getting customers up and running quickly, how do they juggle the balance
    between R&D and consulting?
  • No one can “go it alone”.  Who has proven most open to partnership? Among the larger
existing RFID technology vendors, who has been the most start-up friendly and why?
  • What technologies are most likely to deliver innovation – active, passive, closed loop, EPC,
real time location systems, near field communications (NFC), ZigBee, sensors?
  • What applications hold promise – payments, security, supply chain, healthcare, asset
    management?
