RFID: radio frequency identification
Tribe: a group of people with a common interest or background
RFID Tribe began as a group of 20 people in the Dallas, Texas area with a common interest in RFID technology. The
group met to learn about RFID technology and to trade ideas regarding RFID technology. RFID Tribe members met at
lunch to hear presentations, answer technical questions, start companies and to network. Several months later the
group set up a website and a set of electronic tools to foster collaboration.
RFID Tribe grew as more people from outside the Dallas/Ft. Worth area asked to join the group and as more people
began to use the Tribe’s electronic collaboration tools.
After RFID Tribe began to grow, a local chamber of commerce began its marketing campaign to brand the Dallas/Ft.
Worth region as a center for RFID technology.
RFID groups in other metropolitan areas were looking for a collaboration platform. They began to contact RFID Tribe to
use the RFID Tribe platform, forming RFID Tribe chapters in metropolitan areas.
RFID Tribe continues to grow as word about the community spreads around the world. See a profile of RFID Tribe’s
worldwide membership.
